I have considered the oral application made by Mr Kibe Mungai, the learned counsel for the petitioners herein, and the responses thereto from the respondents' counsel. I note that this is an old matter. However, in my view, given the nature of the proposed amendments, which are to add a new party, allowing the oral application would be a prudent use of scarce judicial time. In the circumstances, I order and direct that:
1. The oral application for the amendment of the petition is hereby allowed. The petitioners shall file an amended petition within 14 days of the date hereof;
2. The respondents shall have 14 days thereafter to file their amended responses; and
3. Mention for further directions on 13th October 2026.
