By a chamber summons dated 30.6.2026, the applicant seeks that Robert Ashiona Munzala,herein after called ward, be declared person suffering from mental disorder and the applicants be made legal guardians and further that they be granted full legal authority in making decisions regarding his daily welfare and to be able to manage his estate, bank accounts and funds held in the name of the ward. The application is grounded on the affidavit of Pamella M. Ashiono, the first applicant and grounds listed on the face of the chamber summons.
I have carefully considered the chamber summons, the grounds on which it is premised and the supporting affidavit. There is evidence that the applicants are wife and daughter of the ward. There is a medical report by Prof E.O Amayo, consultant neurologist indicating that the ward has progressive cognitive decline and is dependent on others for support. The doctor has indicated that he suffers from vascular dementia and cannot manage his affairs.
I am satisfied that the application is merited and accordingly grant it in terms of prayers 1, 2 and 3. There shall be no order as to costs.
